What is a Pontoon?

While the term pontoon can refer specifically to a ship that uses pontoons, they are in fact flotation cylinders that keep the boat afloat. Pontoons can actually come in different sizes, with diameters ranging from 23 to 28 inches. The larger your pontoons, the more stable your ship will be. It will also be able to carry more weight like additional cargo and passengers!

Ship Size

The larger your ship, the more pontoons you may need to stay afloat. Larger ships will also come with more deck space and seating, however, it will also raise the price significantly. To pick the correct ship size for your needs consider the number of passengers you plan to have on board. Anything less than 5 will only require 20 feet or less. However, any more than 10 and you’ll need at least 24 feet. It’s also important to remember that the larger your ship is the more difficult it will be to travel through more narrow waterways.
